I picked up the Radtel 6D Pro DMR portable off of Amazon yesterday. I just happened to watch the Radtel YouTube video about this radio. So, I wanted to post this information in case anyone else orders a unit.
When you first power on the unit, the firmware version will likely be 1.01 which was the initial release firmware. Don't bother playing with the radio at this point, as it'll be reset later.
In the package, find the USB-C programming cable. It has the fat end on the USB-A port. The other USB-C cable is only for charging. This unit does not have battery charging -- it's all done through the radio itself.
Connect the USB-C programming cable. It's the CH340 chipset and should work fine. Download the 2.09 firmware package and the FIRST and LATEST CPS packages.
Extract the firmware updater and LATEST CPS application and put those on your desktop.
Power off the radio. Hold down PTT and power on the radio and a green LED should appear. Open the firmware updater application. Configure the COM Port setting and start the radio upgrade. At the end of the update, the screen will ask you for a password. Do not panic.
Now, open the FIRST CPS compressed RAR file. Inside, there are two extra files. For the Pro model, just drag that file to your desktop. You can now delete the FIRST CPS package.
Open the LATEST CPS application. Configure the COM port. Open the Pro CPS file that you extracted to the desktop. Click the security tab (second tab) and enter in 707070 for current password AND check the Update Password box. Leave the new password blank. Finally write to the radio. Once completed, the unit will reset and the radio will be on the main screen. That's it! Confirm the firmware version is 2.09 under Basic Settings menu option.
It I hadn't seen the video, then I would have been clueless. Radtel doesn't include the required CPS files on the latest CPS package. There is a QR code on the included manual, so perhaps it points to that video.
I haven't spent a lot of time with the unit as yet. Audio seems good and powerful. Menu is pretty typical for a DMR radio. My only nitpick right now is the FREQ STEP is global and not VFO specific.
I'll program mine on our local DMR system and will report my findings soon.
