Hi all!

Well My new SDS100 arrived, I love it. I added DMR and NXDN upgrades. Now I am attempting to program NXDN Railroad freqs. I am not getting any results, I must be doing something wrong. Has anyone successfully programmed in NXDN railroad freqs. If so please pass along the information. Thanks.

Which frequencies are you trying to monitor that are NXDN?

Being that he's listening to UPRR frequencies, he'll be waiting SEVERAL years to hear NXDN.

I haven't monitored much of anything lately because of the dang E, but I thought the railroads still use the old VHF freqs. in the 160 range.

There is a railroad test facility (Transportation Technology Center) in Pueblo that uses a bunch of NXDN freqs, you might drive by the area and check them out. It appears the sites are low-power covering a small area, so you may have to get within a few miles to hear them.

Not for Colorado but just an FYI about how NXDN works in my 536 and 325P2.
Up here in Canada, I found these and the audio is great.

CN Rail is moving along with the changeover. CP Rail hasn't done any up here I believe.

This page has more updated info for the TTC:

I can hear it with a rooftop antenna from my residence which is 45 miles northwest of the TTC.

Thank you all for the responses. I am learning about all of the different digital formats, IE NXDN, DMR and alike. There is not a lot out there about programming those formats. At my age learning is a chore in it's self. I do appreciate the help. Thanks again. Ears On!

Hi all.

Has anyone programmed Cedar Springs Hospital? It is NXDN, 456.550, 457.025, 457.650. I have but I get nothing. I am new to DMD and NXDN. I do not have any other settings for C.S.H.. So, I am not positive I am doing it right. Any help is appreciated. Ears On!

As others have noted, the Transportation Test Center east of Pueblo uses NXDN modulation for their radio system. About the only other NXDN useage in Colorado is in the San Luis Valley with the Cumbres & Toltec narrow gauge tourist railroad.

All the NXDN used by Railroads are out of range even with my roof antenna. Oh well!
Cedar Springs uses NXDN, but no luck on receiving anything there. I want to test out the NXDN up grade I have in the SDS100. Anyone In ElPaso county that have a NXDN user that I can test with? Thanks much for the replies!

Thank you! I will program them and see if I get any thing. Being out here in Falcon does effect what I can receive. I do have a outside antenna a Diamond D-130J. It does work well.
Again THANK YOU! Every bit helps!!!

Hi All!

Well I put into my Favorites The Railroad and Cedar Springs. Nothing on Cedar. But I will keep playing with it.
Some very smart person needs to come up with a way to do encryption on scanners. Legal issues, I get it.

Are you monitoring these? Are these one freq. NXDN? P programmed them as "one freq" but I hear nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Al, I logged all of the NXDN freqs in my list while in search mode. If I wanted to monitor them daily, I would enter them as "NXDN One Frequency" in the Uniden BCD536HP scanner. Many of the freqs on the list are simplex, and you may not be close enough to hear activity on them.

Is that the same GE Johnson Construction that is building the new Pikes Peak Summit Building? Always hearing their trucks going up and down the PP Highway with the PP Rangers on Pikes Peak Ch 1
