I've been patiently waiting for an update of talkgroups to occur in regard to the railroad police using the MPSCS, but haven't seen a thing so far, so hopefully someone in the Detroit area with the software to decode control channel data can give me a hand.

The CN Police are all on the MPSCS, and recently they all became LEIN trained. When the initiate a traffic stop, they frequently go over the a "LEIN channel"... does anyone know what talkgroup this is? User IDs for the CNPD are in the 274xxxx area, 2744870 and up by twos.

Also, tonight was a treat... I heard NS PD come over on the CNPD channel, radio ID 2828788- So they may have a talkgroup on the system now.

If anyone has the means of tracking these IDs around the MPSCS, it'd be interesting to find these new talkgroups... I do not have the means to search for them here, and I don't have a program or setup that will decode the 9600 control channel.

A lot of their operations (both NS and CN) occur in the Detroit area, off the Detroit tower.

Did you put your scanner in "search" mode when they switched to LEIN?

Yes, this is known, but it's not the LEIN channel they turn to, and is not the NS PD heard the other night either. Nothing so far today, but I've got some leads and some help.

Up here in St Clair County I have been hearing the CN RR Police (talkgroup12261) using the county sheriff LEIN and dispatch channels on a regular basis.

This could very well be the LEIN channel they use! Since their IDs fall in the "74" county blanket anyway.

I think I may have heard in the past that they did their LEIN training in St Clair county, but didn't pay attention to it other than CN has a lot of activity in the Port Huron area and maybe have a police station at the yard office there.

Yes they do have a office staffed with 6 guys and 1 K9.

One of them is a member here but I haven't seen him on the boards in a while.

Now we should see where else in the state (Detroit tower) the St. Clair LEIN talkgroup comes through, b/c CNPD in Detroit even switches (probably) to it.

There are new talkgroups added to the MPSCS page as "railroad" I haven't had the opportunity to program these, but find it interesting that they weren't discussed here at all.

Has anyone ever heard CSX PD ever around Michigan?

I heard one of their units on 12089 calling Wyoming Yard, but they never answered back, last week. Then another unit told him that their base radio would be installed the second week of February. He then replied that he would call them on his cellphone.

Hey Josh, after looking closer at my Pro96com data, I noticed that the radio description used is 2744880 and the radio ID is 2378 instead of 12261, my mistake. I hear the 12261 talkgroup now and then but 2378 is the one that talks with St. Clair County. Both of these talkgroups have the 2744880 radio ID showing up in the log.

They call in identifying as CNxxx on St Clair County LEIN and dispatch talkgroups even though 2378 is listed as a Canadian Pacific talkgroup in the database. On the sheriff dispatch talkgroup I hear them either checking in or out for the day.

CN Rail has 2 Dispatchers on the system. A hardline patch to Montreal and a small Comm Center in Detroit.

Yes all the Lein traffic for the cars working in St. Clair Co. are rain on 74LEIN.

Guess it helps when one of the guys wife is the Central Dispatch Director here.

Yes, CN Police made the switch from Shiawesse County LEIN to St. Clair county LEIN. I heard they had some issues with the former and now have a contract with St. Clair who also holds their warrants, etc.

I know CN 412 is out of Port Huron and sometimes works in Detroit and Flint area as well. CN 415 is in Port Huron as well on midnights. CN 410 and 409 are out of the Lansing office and the rest are all based out of Detroit in their Moterm yard. I know CN411 is one of the K9 units, you can hear his dog almost every time he talks on the air LOL. They have their main dispatch channel and two tactical channels. You'll hear CN 412 quite often on St. Clair county helping various units with traffic stops or calls when needed. I think he even took a PI accident not too long since their was no other unit available due to the weather that night.

It's interesting to listen to them as they are very active in traffic stops and other operations, more so then the other railroad PD's. You can still hear them on their main road channels talking to the trainmaster and trains, especially in Port Huron. You'll also hear Customs and CN police talking on CN's main road frequencies in Port Huron from time to time but they keep offical chatter over nextel 2way.

why do RRPD's need to be on the MPSCS? I've been railscanning for 10 years and I've never heard a peep out of any RRPD's. I have all 90 AAR freqs in my scanner too. I haven't heard anything on any of the supposed RRPD talkgroups either since I put them in 2 weeks ago.

You won't hear anything unless they are using the tower you are listening to. I've never heard anything here either.

Well Genesee Co. has 2 major RR's (CN and CSX), both with large yards. Amtrak runs through here too. I guess the rails are pretty safe!

Prior to the CN Police going to the MPSCS, I'd hear them all the time here, on 160.470. Most ops took place in Detroit, but daily a car would call out to say he was on patrol downriver.

Now on MPSCS I hear all their traffic within the state, they seem to be concentrated in Battle Creek, Lansing and Detroit, there are 2 or 3 cars operating out of Detroit.

I've always and only heard NS PD on 160.560, they aren't very active though. I think most of their comms go on over the phone.

CP Rail has talkgroups on the system, but even there I've never heard a peep.
