Location
Durham Region and Parry Sound, Ontario
I have looked around the site, and don't seem to find a listing of any rail frequencies being used.

I was wondering if anybody new what the road channels for CN/CP were? and any other frequencies in use.

I have used the service band search and had activity, but was looking to see if anybody had more narrowed down info.

Areas of interest are southern ontario and parrysound area.

Thanks

Rail freqencies vary by location and history (who was bought out by who). Your best bet is to have your scanner search the RR band and listen to what is being heard. If you not by a rail yard, chances are there is only 1 or 2 channels being used (assuming only 1 line thru down).

Typically, you will have a road channel, yard channel and possibly a MoW channel. Some RR's even employ "split channels"... one for the the dispatcher, and one for the train, so you will need to program both in.

Either way, even the slowest scanner will cover all 97 AAR channels in less than a second or two.

Yeah...really not any work. Since there is so little in the way of RR comms (for the most part), it will be really easy to figure out what is what.
