Is this just going to be temporary Jim? I must say, I can't believe that they installed the site that quick. Also, what is the coverage like, if you know. And I guess my last question, where is it located approx to the "family"

No they used the equitment that was slated for a new site in Mesa County so that enabled them to construct it faster, last word I had was they were still hauling gas into the generator every 24 hrs.

Plan is I believe for this to be a permanent site.

CSP command post is located at the Steamboat Lake Vistors Center and that's where the dispatchers for the incident are located and there call sign is "patrol" with CSP troopers from the entire state logging in it seems, Dist 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and lots of special command and admin units.

They are using id 2407 CSP state Ch-2

Coverage is pretty good and the "family" gathering is located in Big Red Park which is off Hwy-139 very near the Wyoming boarder.

Thanks Jim.... I wonder how they have this site licensed. I don't think that even the state could get a grant that fast. But I guess it is possible, I'll look more into it.

The radio techs setting it up are using 8001

They were scrambling this weekend to get it up

As I suspected, Site 222 is not licensed...

222 is licensed in Mesa County actually and they can construct this and license under an emergency order, I mean the amount of CSP overtime for this event is huge, your taxpayer dollars at work. Most all cars are double staffed.

There were 21 CSP cars just parked at North Routt FD Station 2 when I visited this am and another 6 at the command post.

Well, I actually for once agree with having all the extra law there. It is not the states fault, its all those "hippies" that decided to come here in the first place.

I never thought about the emergency order, I guess this kind of is an emergency. Next thing you know, the forest will be on fire.

I have added this site to the database as "Rainbow Area".

If anyone catches a real name for the site (e.g. what the radio techs. are calling it) either PM me or post it here.

Gotcha.

For my own information - has this site been referred to Farwell Mountain on the radio technician talk group, or is this just where the site actually is?
