Rainy Weather

I live in Houston and today it is overcast with tons of rain. I'm picking up far away signals today that I never do on a sunny clear day. Is that due to the over cast? Are signals bouncing off the clouds making them able to be heard? Just curious. Thanks.

No. VHF and UHF radio signals can't bounce off clouds. Tropo openings can happen in when the sky is clear.

Weather systems can also enhance radio propagation.
