So there are tons of sacramento talk groups, basically I am looking only for the fire/police talkgroups for the rancho cordova,ca area.

Can anyone help me out I have been searching for a while now and can't seem to find anything.

Also CHP would be nice too.

EDIT: the fire tg's are strangest because they are broken up into groups like a b c d if those could be specificed along with the tac channels I'd appreciate it. For the sheriff talkgroups I added all of them and all the tac channels and I will just eliminate them slowly since there were only 4 dispatch tg's

Sacramento has a number of different fire districts all dispatched by one communications center. The City of Sacramento Fire units are dispatched on B channels. Dispatched on B1 and handled on B2. Larger incidents will be assigned Tac channels as needed, the tac is released when no longer needed.

Rancho Cordova is part of the Sacramento Metro Fire district which handles all of its calls on the A channels. You'll hear calls from all over the county, there's no way to isolate the Rancho Cordova calls (unless you use the tone outs).

What you program depends on how you feel about missing hearing something "down the street" vs hearing something that is in, oh say, "Florin". Because RC and Florin are both in the south county, they share the same frequencies and TGs.

Fire is the easiest. Dispatch is on VHF 154.190 which is a repeat of A1 TG. Fire command will be on A2 to A5. The first fire tac TG to be assigned is A6 and that typically goes to A12 before they jump over and use C6. It takes something like a red flag day or 4th of July to have that many working incidents, but it happens. To cover it all, program A1 to A12 and C1 to C12. If you want to hear arson or admin conversations, which are sometimes quite interesting, program A13 to A15. They don't talk all that much so you really won't notice them there. Again, it depends on how you feel if you missed something down the street.

Rancho Cordova PD uses Sac Sheriff TGs. During busy times RC dispatch is on SSD 4. During less bust times they are on SSD 3 with all other sheriff traffic south of the river. During wee hours and when there is not enough dispatchers, everyone is on SSD 1. Of the 4 TGs, the only one you're not likely to hear RC traffic on is SSD 2. But don't you think it is important to hear an incident "across the river" and heading your way (such as down Sunrise)? Since their calls are computer dispatched, you often only hear live or juicy stuff anyway.

There are a handful of TGs that are commonly used regardless of what part of the county someone is in. To me they are essential. But that means one moment they're talking about some break-in in Rio Linda and the next moment talking about that incident in RC on the SAME TG. Welcome to monitoring in the big county!!!

This is just one topic of many we chat about when we get together once a year or so. Here is the thread, join us and learn more.

Yea i see what you mean. I think i will program them but split it all up into like 4 different banks. Thanks!

Use sub banks to manage TGs

I would not split a trunked radio system like what is used in Sacramento county across multiple banks unless you plan to only enable one of those banks at a time. If you scan the same system in more than one bank you will miss calls.

If you want to manage TGs, the GRE-made scanners with banks have sub-banks for the TGs. They are organized typically as 30 TGs x 5 sub-banks or 150 TGs total. Not as elegant for sure.

I don't break up the trunked system, but I have split up the TG's into American River LE north and American River LE south, with fire in their own group. To aid in monitoring local fire in R. Cordova, get to know the stations, i.e., #'s 61, 63, 65, 66, 68 and other surrounding stations.
