Hi There ,

I bought an 'as new' BCT15X and when i programmed it with the cable it worked fine for a week then started randomly boot looping , this seemed to happen on occasion when the front usb/serial was connected and using proscan or freescan.

I tried resetting the scanner using the button combo. Each time i tried this it got stuck on the 'clearing the memories' part of the reset.

The final part of the reset 'restore presets' or whatever did not appear and has never prevailed during a reset so the scanner stuck on the clearing part . The only way to get it back was loading the latest firmware again and i was still unable to get it to reset fully after this.

I dont know whats happening if i turn it on it will scan . The minute i go to program it via PC to change maybe a frequency the scanner diaappears from virtual scanner, it will start switching on/off rapidly and its starting to get a bit tedious now.

I tried to upload a video of the behaviour but am unable to do so.

Here is the layout .

Scanner - BCT15X

PC - Windows 10 PC

PC/Scanner Cable - One that came with scanner and a serial-USB adapter

Software - Proscan (and Freescan)

Comm Ports - Baud rate set to 115200 same as software

Anyone else had any similar behaviours or know any wisdom that might make the scanner useable as just now its a doorstop due to lack of remote setup.

Thanks in advance for your time

Regards

If I remember correctly the front port would do that from time to time. You may have to use the rear RS232 port with a null cable.

Yeah i havent tried that at all . I will invest in a cable for the back of the radio im guessing its just a female version of the rear connection with a normal USB on the other end as opposed to the tiny comnector.

I was actually thinking that was the problem the other day . I read somewhere but couldnt find the thread regarding it.

Thanks very much i'll try this ASAP hopefully thats whats up.

Try swapping the AC adapter if you have another.

Hi Bob hope youre well ,

Thanks , That possible remedy was also contained in the thread i read as well. I bought a replacement one and swapped it out , even tried the hardwiring to a ham radio 13.8v psu but the problem still persists.

The inability to reset properly made me think it may be a fault in the radio as when trying to reset it displays:

"All Memory Clear / Please Wait"

And then it just freezes without ever reaching the final stage of:

"Restore Presets? Yes>No>"

Im not sure if thats related but its stopping me from going back to factory defaults. Ordered a Null modem cable .

Cheers
