• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Why does this work? Any ideas?
The “GRP_AFF_RSP” message is sent to this Private Call ID.

So this Private ID is assigned to other Talk Group ID temporarily and it receives the signal of the temporary Talk Group (TGID).

That's how I interpreted it. I unchecked the box and now mine says the same thing. I have not had any bleed yet since making the change 48 hours ago, but the other Unications I programmed that did not yet have the change had some bleed but it occurred while I was not listening to my radio (of course), so I could not compare to definitively say this fixed it (yet). I have since flashed everyone's radio to incorporate this change last evening, so my 'control' of this experiment is gone. All we can do now is listen and cross fingers. If a few days go by, I will deem this to be fixed.

Another positive sign in the right direction: A member of our station has been flashing his radio on his own and he never had bleed. It is unknown whether his box was already unchecked. But it raises an eyebrow that we are closing in on the suspected fix.

Why did you have a SUID programmed that needed to be disabled?

I never knew it was enabled. It never affected me until recently. That's the weird part. I am still not even sure what it is, despite the answer a few posts above. But something must have changed in my County that suddenly made it become an issue. If in fact that was the problem. Maybe a new radio or dispatch console or other recent configuration change at the county caused it.

@ResQguy is this supposed to correct the bleed over issue I'm talking about as the OP? Can you explain what these settings mean? Their definition is a little vague. Also attached is my settings, I never changed them from when I received the pager.

Please take a look at this in your pager profile:

PPS->Group ID Setting->Private Call ID->P25T SUID, and disable this function.

Well guys I’m going to report that the above fix posted by @N1GAW was the remedy. Thank you! It was either that, or my county fixed it on their end but that would be a hell of a coincidence. Stay safe everyone.

I downloaded mine 2 years ago from the website and I think I started by reading my factory default radio codeplug. I’m not placing blame. It’s possible I built upon what someone sent me. I can’t recall. But it wasn’t the dealer I know that. I purchased a factory default radio.

I used my factory codeplug as well to program the pager. But what does this SUID mean? Their definition in the software is very vague. I am waiting for a pager to be shipped by Unication, so I cannot confirm or deny this has corrected the OP's condition.

Who originally programmed these random pagers and enabled a SUID? Same dealer?

On a trunked network each SU has a Subscriber Unit ID (SUID), that includes the Unit ID and the ID of the trunked system it is registered on.
This allows for the calls to be made between trunked systems. The SUID is made up as follows:
Home System WACN ID (20bit) - Home System ID (12bit) - Unit ID (24 bit)

I still don’t understand why this causes bleed. Can someone ELI5 this? Why is this picking up unprogrammed talk groups?

@AdamHLG did that change correct the issue? I don't have a pager to check it, so you're the only one who can prove or disprove right now. And why would Unication not have told me that, and accept the pager back for an exchange? @ResQguy hasn't responded back to us either.

SKEPTICAL......

Yes it appears this fixed the issue. Either that or it suddenly went away because our county fixed it. But that would be quite a coincidence.
