A friend of mine asked me what kind of scanner he needs to listen to REC... I don't know the answer and was hoping somebody could help me.

One can listen to REC with any scanner, but no scanner can track it, since it uses MPT-1327. There are computer programs that enable tracking, however.

Hey Dave, I think you meant to say that you can listen with any scanner BUT>>> that scanner has to cover 220 MHz.

I read somewhere that some locality is going to try MPT-1327 on public safety, either Radio Comm or MT magazine.

Thanks... So I assume you can hook a base scanner into a computer to track it... and there is no solution to enable a handheld scanner to do this???

With a Winradio or similar... Advanced Trunking Option for WiNRADiO Receivers
Their original trunking software package was not very good at tracking, and I have no idea if the problems were fixed with the Advanced Trunking Option or not....
