On RCMP E Division Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Looks like posts here are getting RCMP just fine. This page seems deficient as is replicated in my BCD536HP database, as maybe misconfigured since encrypted audio is garbled. The following frequencies are active but continually garbled using FM as indicated in the link above,

Lower Mainland District Repeaters
RCMP D 139.320000 FM
RCMP L 139.440000 FM
RCMP G 139.530000 FM
RCMP K 139.620000 FM

North and South Repeaters
RCMP A - 139.245000 FM
RCMP D - 139.320000 FM
RCMP L - 139.440000 FM
RCMP F - 139.560000 FM
RCMP K - 139.620000 FM
RCMP N - 139.650000 FM

Anyone know what dig/analog audio scheme is being used for this encryption. My Audio Option is to Search Analog and Digital. Cant seem to workaround by forcing NFM NAC codes. Thanks, hope you can help.

Looks similar to the BAND PLAN here in SK. My best guess would be P25 Phase 1. Best way to check is run unitrunker

RCMP in B.C. have now gone almost completely encrypted and can not be monitored on a Uniden 536 or any other scanner. Or even a similar radio to theirs without the ENC keys which can't be obtained.

E-Division has been converting their conventional analogue VHF system to a conventional, encrypted P25 system. I'm guessing it is mostly complete. There may be a few repeaters left to convert, but not many. They are still using the same frequencies, but digital.

It is not trunked, it is simply conventional P25. They utilize AES256 encryption.

Thanks everybody for your input. I have a provoice update on my bcd536hp. I guess ecomm will be moving to AES ecom in 2017. Welcome to George Orwell's 1984.

RCMP webpage gives a projected completion date of spring, 2018 for full encryption coast to coast to coast.

That likely is due to the RCMP transition to AFRCCS, the pending ECOMM WARS P25 700MHz build and pending CREST P25 700MHz build. Plus the few possibly remaining E Division VHF repeaters remaining to be upgraded. Otherwise I think that they are using encrypted networks except maybe PEI and Newfoundland?

Currently ECOMM is a 800MHz EDACS system, they are replacing it with a 700MHz P25 system. Expect ALL (RCMP and any Municipal police forces) law enforcement to utilize AES256 encryption once it is built, tested and accepted for operational use.

Although not confirmed, the 700MHz CREST replacement system will likely be the same way, ALL law enforcement will likely use AES256 encryption.

PEI RCMP have been encrypted for a year now (Oct. 2015). Nova Scotia has been encrypted for a few years now, and New Brunswick is going encrypted next year. They are all using the Maritime Public Safety Radio Network (MPSRN).

The systems are all great.... until they fail! Interop will be there biggest concern.

Not the first law enforcement agency to encrypt. Interop will still happen.

Interop here is on the PPSTN system... not sure if they have symplex Chanels! I would assume they would have VLAW31, Prov EMS, Prov Fire, Prov EMO, Prov SAR... etc still programmed in analog on there radios for when SHTF! Wouldn't be smart to put all there eggs in one basket so to speak. I should enquirer. Radios would be permissible to work in the VHF band, but will have a bit of a miss match to the antennas. I wonder what the backup plan will be for the UHF 700 & 800mhz systems will be?

Likely. Depends what kind of antennas they are using on the mobiles.

Backup for which UHF/700/800 systems? Like in other provinces? Probable the same. Some simplex channels. Unless the sites fail and go off air, they will likely go into some form of fail soft/site trunking if they lose their connection to the greater network. A complete failure is rare, if it is planned for.

People always think that the worst will happen, and it rarely, rarely does for those who are prepared, and plan accordingly.
