Noticed some action on the RCMP ERT2 channel 421.6350. Noticed that the are using P25 with a NAC 100. They where doing VIP escorts from the airport.

Very interesting. I was sure I saw a Canforce jet coming in for a landing about the same time we had our AC2 this morning. (~10:00)

What other freqs do you have for ERT? I used to have some "federal" freqs but heard nothing on them and purged them from my scanner.

Just the ones listed in the Alberta database. ERT 1 i have CT on and ERT 2 was the same freq with search on and came up with above info. Was at the airport this morning and seen the ERT cube van driving around as well as the airport RCMP platform trucks all full of ERT memebers. I have attached a pic of the vehicle I seen today.

Ah, sorry. When an aircraft declares an emergency and requires the fire trucks (and EMS, etc.,) to be on standby as it lands, it is either an AC1 (Aircraft Concern level 1) or AC2 (level 2). Usually calls only go to level 2 with large amounts of people or fuel involved.. today's was a FedEx cargo jet coming in with reported flaps problems. Because he still had 18,000 pounds of fuel aboard (likely was passing through, not due to stop here), it was an AC2 even though there were only 5 people on board the 727.

An AC3 is a confirmed crash. I have worked two AC3s with my volunteer department, one in Kananaskis and one at the Springbank Airport. Everything from a hot-air balloon (crash-)landing in someone's backyard to an A321 digging a crater in the side of Mount Rundle could be an AC3.

Anyway, as far as the RCMP stuff goes, guess I'll have to monitor those freqs again. I haven't seen the RCMP ERT vehicles in ages (like 1993/1994 was the last time I saw them in action, IIRC); when I saw them then, the neatest thing I noticed was that they'd modified the hinges on the Suburbans' back doors so they could lift them off and leave them at the CP (command post), and drive in to the scene with no doors on, to give the team easier egress from the vehicle. :)

What we saw today during the AC2 was a very dark grey Airbus sized jet coming in on either runway 25 or 27 (the emergency was on 34). With Stampede going on and both Harper and Dion reportedly hanging around town, it's not a surprise that they'd be there.

Was listening to that AC2 today in my way into town and actually saw the plane coming in.

Would have been very cool to be at the airport and see the response happen.

Jay, what does it mean when the airport trucks say, "Red x in emergency"?

Oh, very cool about the RCMP as well. :D

When I was working at the airport a few years ago, I had the chance to watch a cargo MD-11 do a couple very low passes over the runways. Emergency crews were spotting the landing gear for him as he was not getting a confirmed "locked" light. It was interesting watching and listening on the air bands that day while at work.

PS...I was an Emeregency Response Coordinator when I worked at the airport. I learned lots of acronyms and stuff for different levels of emergencies. It still gives me goose bumps to hear them used.

Noticed some noise on the RCMP air port channel as well last night. Didnt catch it in time and didnt see which channel or frequncie was. Was more static noise and have never heard any noise on this channel before. If someone is close to the airport they may want to monitor these channels as well this week. Im guessing it would be P25 as well????

The RCMP were excorting our prime minister, the new chief military guy, and a person from the US dealing with government. Sorry...I only seen the paper with titles today at work. They were at the Stampede Grounds last night for a celebration of some sort. Lots of bomb sniffing dogs, ERT and TAC around the grounds yesterday.

A hint for those in Calgary, a clip from a post I made in January.

" In November I found RCMP walking the ditches west of Calgary using 800 MHZ radios, why walking ditches and why 800 MHZ? "

These were ERT team members and diplomatic escort teams doing some type of training in the ditches west of Calgary, I'll check and see if I recorded the freqency. They were using P25 and Enc.

The mobile command post was setup a couple of kilometers away from what ever they were training for.
