I think out of respect for those officers that lost their lives that day we should maybe leave this thread alone.

In my opinion, the story of how this event transpired is best told at this point by the media and subsequent official inquiries. I know I wouldn't want to hear any radio traffic of the incident myself.

I understand what you're looking for, but I don't think that any speculation by scanner listeners on what they heard or what they think happened will serve any beneficial purpose for now.

What's more, other discussion groups have brought up the point that some media outlets are trying to twist this story around to the point where the shooter was said to have used his 'police scanner' to lie in wait for the members. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't feel the need to fuel that particular fire myself.

As for scanner users telling you anything what went on that you personally did not hear, forget about it, we would be in violation of the radio communcations act (read section 9 next time you are sitting in the can)... Maybe speak to the Edmonton Sun reporter who is potentially facing charges as a result of the undercover sting fiasco there for his experience.

Maybe some of the media should actually consider whether what they are asking is against the law before they do so. I am sure you legal department would love us to contact them and advise them of the exposure you are bringing to their doorstep.
