On Jan 21st RCMP tendered a contract for encrypted P25 portable radios to be used on the new P25 wide area (LMR) system for use at the G8. This tender closed Feb 10th. Welcome to MERX - Bienvenue à MERX

This $4.94 Million contract was awarded to Motorola Canada Ltd. An encryption key loader was also included for this price.

EADS will supply the infrastructure with the first deployment occuring in the areas hosting the G8 conference.

System will be UHF and could possibly be P25 phase 2 (tdma).

Pretty sure there was a post on here or in the news forum about this already.

... Wonder if they will allow other provincial, local agencies onto the system as well (not on RCMP, but just on the system, sorta like how MNR and MTO, EMS, etc use fleetnet...)
