Hello,
Recently purchased a BC246T and I was wondering if I would be able to hear Regina RCMP and other detachments using this scanner? I saw the EDACS talk groups in the database, but I'm fairly new to scanning and wasn't sure if it would work. I do, however, know that the BC246T can scan EDACS.
Thanks in advance.

listen while you can chances are this will all migrate to the saskpower rcmp p25 system, so consider upgrading scanners

For Regina RCMP, it's basically too late now. The RCMP around here have all migrated to their new P25 digital system. You won't find much RCMP activity on the EDACS Fleetnet system. You will need a P25 digital scanner to listen to the RCMP now.

I'm not sure if all areas of SE Sask have changed to the new system, but most have. If they haven't yet, it won't be long.

Ok, I figured it would be. Thanks for the responses.
Are there any recommendations for a good scanner that I should invest in?
Thanks.

ambulance, some truck companys , are all that uses edacs in sask now. you need a digital scanner to get rcmp, lots of models ,pro 96 is fairly easy to program and would be cheapest with good quality. checkout the ads section on this site or e bay ...

Thanks for the reply. I found a Pro-96 on the website here and I am currently inquiring about it.
Would purchasing a Uniden BCD996T be a good investment at all or would you suggest a portable scanner like the 96 be a better investment and of better use?

Hi to Colby4601. I would not go with a Pro96 ,because I have one and it just does not decode the RCMP M/A-Com P25 system very well. The GRE500 or BCD396T /XT portable scanners will do a far better job of decoding this system.

OK, I will take this all into consideration. I was looking at a scanner that I could use mobile, but also in my office here and the Uniden BCD996T kind of caught my eye. Any recommendations there?
Thanks for the replies.
