hi all,
The SD RCS will soon undergo some changes, and additions in coming months. North County Fire, for example, is joining Rancho DSP, so the channel assignments for Rancho will be reorganized, according to the RCS folks.
Furthermore, I understand a systemwide overhaul is due to take place in June. Not sure really what that means, but will find out and post info soonest.
BTW I recently obtained through PRA req. the base frequency tables and RCS fleetmap. It's gonna change soon, so once the new stuff is avail, i will post on RR.com.
Cheers.

PRA, in reality, is the CPRA or California Public Records Act. In some cases it's the only way to get information from state and local agencies. It does not apply to the Feds. It falls under the FOIA, or the Freedom of Information Act--a big reason that the FCC databases are so widely available.
Such formal requests aren't required unless a government agency or employee denies access to a record that is subject to one of the two acts.
There are many records that are exempted from disclosure under the act, but not as many as some agency lawyers would have you believe. Still, unless you're willing to push the issue, well....
Long story short: Yes, it's an excellent way to get information, if casual and REASONABLE requests have been unlawfully denied or ignored. And who cares, if it pisses people off at that point? What the hell do they have to hide, anyway?
check out the California First Amendment Coalition, if you'd like to learn more. http://www.cfac.org/
Cheers,
BAH

PS--I would be interested to hear responses from folks who have had trouble getting info about publicly owned radio systems--especially San Diego County.
Cheers

It will be interesting to see what changes take place. Just hope it does not mean any type of encryption or major systemwide talkgroup changes. That would suck.

Rumors that I've read about so far include:

- East County Simulcast

- National City PD joining RCS this spring

- CHP is leaving the system (already hearing more activty on the GOLD again)

Here is a thread that has interesting info regarding the RCS

Say, BAH,

With N.C.F.P.D going to Rancho, does that mean that I can delete all those 153, 154, 460 and 465 MHz freq's that I've got loaded in my Pro-95? How soon?

Many thanks.[/code]
