Will there be a memorial service, funeral, or wake when the off switch is flipped on the old RCS system?

Hey Paul...forgot to ask you this. I have 6384 (TGID from old RCS) which is local city paramedics (San Marcos/Vista/Esco/etc.)comm with Palomar West (new hosp). I reprogrammed it to 399 however they are still on RCS. Are the paramedics as well as PMC gonna cross over?

When is it supposed to happen? My CALFIRE and CHP haven't gone to the "dark side" yet....

I heard 11A TRVL on NG system active discussing about something in North County and mentioned switching to VHF for an incident but I am curious as to how Heartland will like P25 on a fireground channel inside a structure fire the sound of it.

The P25 comms on Northcomm I have heard at active incidents including blowers and facemasks have been pleasantly understandable. I think a firefighter with a respirator next to a blower on NextGen sounds better than an SDPD officer talking into an XTS2500 in the best of conditions on their 700MHz system. #fixyourdamnmicgainsettings!

I was at NorthCom last Saturday and some of their backup radios were showing out of range, Nor has my friend seen any new equipment as in APX radios. Kinda funny their back up radios are 45w Astro Spectra's and XTS 5000's. I figured NC would have new stuff by now?

They'll get used to it. They also have a simplex analog channel in the zone for simplex on the fireground.
(Imperial County fire agencies have been digital on the RCS since they came on in the early 2000s.)

Tee APX radios the agencies are using have two-mic noise cancelling built in for that very purpose.
The XTS series radios, not so.

The RCS logo would make a great looking cake. There should be an end of watch broadcast as the very last transmission on all talkgroups just before the plug is pulled.

Paul

Doing all talkgroups would be a bit disruptive (setting that up in the system is an awful lot of effort for one or two transmissions).
Maybe on County Call or something.
