Hello,

Have been away from hobby for a while, so would like to ask the following to bring myself up to date:

Is there any general (full) listing for the greater Boston area that shows all the stations with their new frequencies (and possibly their old ones for reference) that have been "re-banded" over the past year or so ?

(Such as Public Safety, aero., etc.)

Or, must one go and dig out each one individually ?

Guess I should also ask if there is a list for those that expect to re-band over the next 6 months ?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob you're probably better off going to the Mass. forum and asking. Even better is the Scan New England website - and their wiki is devoted to frequency information (and in some ways, it's better than our database - and I can't believe I'm saying that...), so you have lots of resources to help answer your questions 73 Mike

You won't have to worry about aero. Rebanding only effects 800 MHz frequencies so there shouldn't be any effect on the normal aero frequencies. Of course it's possible that some frequencies have changed since you've been away, but that wouldn't be rebanding.

When an agency moves, is up to $$$$

Reprogram Radios, migrate, Reprogram again
Nextel needs to abandon the new Frequency etc

It's not a quick and simple process, even for the Conventional 800 users, imagine the extras [multiple Rptrs, Base Stations, Mobiles, Portables] for a Large TRS [Boston, Cambridge, Massport, MSP with 30+ Sites]

For specific system information you can use the TA Call Sign Checker to see the effect on each frequency licensed to that system.

800 MHz TA: Resources by Category: Tools

You can get the call signs from the FCC database or from the RR database.

Fortunately for the public safety systems, Nextel is paying for the costs of rebanding.

Not entirely Correct. Many of the delays have been from Back-n-Forth with both sides for $$$ to program, reprogram and then De-program the old systems. Nextel/Sprint is still balking at some of the $$$ being requested. So it is not Entirerly Funded by Nextel/Sprint.

Just because Nextel isn't accepting everything that is submitted and paying it without review doesn't mean that they aren't paying the costs of rebanding. The costs which can be shown to be related are supposed to be paid by Nextel. There is, of course, always the possibility of dispute as to how much that is. My point was that the actual costs necessitated by rebanding are supposed to be paid by Nextel and that they will be paying the vast majority of the legitimate costs.

Sorry that I didn't put in all the exceptions or point out that Nextel doesn't just pay on everything that's submitted. That said, I understand that the process can be a major headache and that many systems would have preferred to just be left alone.

And, of course, I'm sure the agreement contains the usual force majeure clauses, relating to such things as acts of God, effects of war, strike, riot, and civil commotion.

I wonder if it has a clause relating to what happens if Nextel were to go bankrupt?
