Mo, did you try simply subtracting 15 mhz from the original freqs? That's not quite a hard and fast rule - they don't have to go down that much - but it's a starting point. That's assuming Waterbury really did reband, and it's not something like missing a control channel in your programming. 73 Mike

They did, and it is.... Still very annoying to try to monitor with the open carriers while other frequencies are active, conversations jumping around frequencies where you need to set very low delay settings, etc. etc. Maybe the PD likes the fact that it’s not a very easily monitored system?

I am actually back in Baltimore for the summer so couldn't try anything my self. I figured was pretty much the situation though.

So would a frequency of 866.1875 just be 851.1875? I haven't really been following the rebanding thing too closely.

I herd the FD saying yesterday that the radio system is being redone today and that tomorrow (today) they will be doing radio checks on the new channels and digital
I think they might be rebanding

Greenwich Rebanding

I am having trouble hearing Greenwich since rebanding. I put in the following frequencies as per their license:

851.7875
852.0625
852.4500
853.1500
853.4000
853.7000

I even added 852.5875 which I was told they may be using but I am still missing 1/2 the transmissions or so.
Anyone have any ideas???

Is your Scanner updated for the Rebanding?
If so, with the latest Firmware??
and then what BandPlan did you pick with the new frequencies?

I'm having trouble understanding "rebanding" It seems to me there are 6 freq's for Greenwich. Greenwich has "rebanded" and now the freq's are all 15Mhz lower. I'm just going to enter the 6 freq's listed in this thread that are 15 Mhz lower that the original 6, then delete the original 6. Why would I need a firmware update for that to work? I think I have the latest firmware update for my BCD396XT, 1.07.00. I won't know until tomorrow if this works but it's sounding like I have to do more than just enter the new freq's. Do I have to do a custom band plan for this?
Thanks for any help.

Motorman,
I believe you have to set a custom band plan for your scanner, I have a 396T and just set it up and I am going to try it out tomorrow and see if it works. Just puting in the new frequencies will not work.

OK Dave,
I'll wait to see how it goes for you. By just entering the channels, I am locking on to the control channel and I getting peak signal stregnth but I'm not getting any voice.
Everything looks like it's working except it's not working!

Once you confirm you have the latest firmware, that can handle rebanding.

You then need to pick the correct Band Plan. There are some agencies that are using a CUSTOM vs the New Band format. Experiment on it

OK I'll give it a try....in an earlier thread Dave said he is going to try a custom band plan. We'll see how it all plays out.

yes guys u need a custom band plan..we went throught this with West Hartford, CT if u all use ARC software instead of trying to put in freq manually and hit custom band plan it will do it for you automatically. Still people love to do it the hard way ?? not sure why. try it and I bet it will work correctly : )

I went to Greenwich today and confirmed that you need to use a custom band plan. I was able to program it using the ARC software mentioned above. Again this was on the 396T, I am not sure about how you would program other models. 853.700 was the control channel that I was getting.
Good luck

I got it !
For the BCD396XT I used band plan 2, base Freq (lower) 851.025, Base Freq (Upper) 868.9875
Offset 0, Polarity +, Spacing 25KHz.
The above is listed on page 48 of the Mauual

Use the freq's that Tom K1TA listed in an earlier post and it should work

I have one question (or suggestion) have you tried the above with 12.5KHz SPACING since they are Narrowband ????

I am going to try the following tonight, I'll let you know how it works :

Band plan 2
Base Freq (lower) 851.000
Base Freq (Upper) 854.000
Offset 0
Polarity +
Spacing 12.5KHz.

FREQ's

851.7875
852.0625
852.4500
853.1500
853.4000
853.7000

Tom,
On my 396T I have the following settings that were brought in by the ARC396 software.

Band plan 1
Lower 851.0250
Upper 854.0000
Step 25mhz
Offset 440

Band Plan 2
Lower 851.0125
Upper 868.9875
Step 25mhz
Offset 0

This is working for me. I was listening to them today!
Hope this helps.

The spacing is not related to narrowband/wideband but the space between the designated Motorola channels.
Base is the frequency of the lowest Motorola channel (Ch1 - 851.0125) and spacing is the separation to the next channel (25khz).
So channel 1 is 851.0125, channel 2 is 851.0375, etc.
The interleaved channels start at 851.0250 and are also 25khz apart.
Ch 440 is 851.0250, ch 441 is 851.0500, etc.

If you create a custom plan and use 12.5khz, the scanner will not trunktrack correctly. Also, if you do not add the second part of the plan with the 851.0250 base, you will not trunktrack correctly IF the system has any of the interleaved frequencies.
