Do these I-Tac channels ever get used anywhere in the state? They are awfully quite here in Fairfield County.

Those frequencies are for use nation wide. They should be in every public safety radio. This way, no matter where they go in the country, these are common channels available for use. Makes great mutual aid channels and normally are included in every state interop plan. It would be wise to program the simplex operation of these channels as not too many localities have repeaters using these channels.

There are also "National Interoperability" channels at UHF and VHF. However, the VHF channels are for simplex operation, as no repeater channels were ever set aside.

Pro 2096 Question

Quick question..... I am currently hearing the CSP on my Pro-2096 without any problems. Will I need to do anything with this unit as far as rebanding goes?.

Thanks in advance,

Jay

Yes, you will need to Program in the new Frequencies.

Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki

  • After much experimentation, it has been found that the Radio Shack Pro-96 and Pro-2096 can follow 3600 baud rebanded Motorola systems, but a special set of tables must be entered in ARC96 or Win96. This function has been implemented in version 1.58 or later. Please see this sticky thread for more information. See the bottom of the Win96 article for the specific values to use; if you are using ARC96, see the link above.

My understanding is that its in the process starting west to east. I was told that during the last reprogramming session is that all the new and old control channels were added in so as far as the radio knows, there is no "seam". As the sites get changed over one by one, the radio won't notice.

CSP has received the rebanded licenses for much of the system. The radio techs are still doing some radios and there is quite a bit of behind-the-scenes activity on the different zones.
If you don't know how already, I would suggest reviewing the reprogramming of your scanners for a rebanded system.

Just wondering if they have changed some of the sites yet mainly in Thompson,Ct area. I've never had issues with receiving them until today. (March,19,2011)
