Here is The radio I am having a programing Uniden Bearcat BC246T Police Scanner Radio This is The Scanner my Buddie picked up when it was On Sale about a year ago at a Local Radio Shack. I wish he would have asked them if it was easy to program and if not would have asked them a easy one to program that I could have done or he could have done. But I got at the end of April I picked up Scancat Lite Plus here is a link for this program Scancat Lite Plus / Public Safety Combo - Scancat Lite Plus / Public Safety Combo it says it is able to program this radio and I am stuck on how to program this radio with this software. You would likely be better off in the Pennsylvania forum if you are looking for local help - however, there are a few things that I can suggest;

a. Forget banks. The 246 uses allocations that you do yourself - everything is set up around groups and systems. I'm sure you gathered that much by reading The Easier to Read manual (at least, I hope you did).

b. Forget Scancat - there are too many horror stories of folks using that software, and royally screwing their radios up. There are better alternatives - ARC246 from BuTel, FreeScan, BCTool...the links for which are here...

Popular Software for RS/Uniden Scanners - The RadioReference Wiki

If you go to the Pa. forum and ask for a file for your 246, be sure to be specific about the software you are using. They aren't necessarily interchangable. The Uniden Advanced System Director (UASD) is pretty much the format most all of the better programs can import as a data source.

c. Finally, if you come up empty (I very much doubt you will), get a premium subscription and you can download data from the databases directly to the software's editor. To find out about that, float your mouse at the toolbar under the logo over About and click on Premium Subscription

But likely as not, you want to be in the Pa. forum- always best to get local help 73 Mike
