Hello. When I "read from Scanner" (SDS200, etc.) does it also back-up my profile (customized displays) ?

Thanks

What software are you using to read your scanner?

There is a pop-up window that may say "XXX Favorite List is different on PC!". You get a choice to Copy and Replace on PC, Copy with New Name, or Skip.

Could this be what you mean?

That just gives you the option to A) over-write the favorites on your computer with what is on the scanner, B) download the favorites from the scanner renaming them so you can retain the copy on your computer as well as what is on the scanner or not download the favorites at all from the scanner. I think what @PCTEK is asking is with regards to things like the text and background color on the display as well as what fields the display shows and some of the settings within the scanner. Those get written to the computer automatically without prompting (at least through Sentinel). So if I change the color of the System field on my SDS 150 while in Trunk Detail view and then write the scanner to the computer, whether or not I copy the favorites to the computer, the color for the System field for Trunk Detail view will automatically change within the settings on Sentinel. I hope that made sense!! :D

Hello and thank you for the replies. I have two SDS200's. I've set up one of them to have a custom display. I use Sentinel to communicate with the scanners. I wasn't sure if when I read (and saved) from the scanner that I have the way I like, it also backed up the settings for display, weather SAME, etc. so that I could just send that to the second scanner rather than having to manually recreate the settings on the second scanner.

You can create a different profile for each scanner with a different custom display in each profile. Once you complete the customized display in a profile, go to the File tab and Export the custom settings and save the file. You can then Import the settings into any profile.

Yes, when you read from the scanner it backs up the settings for display, weather SAME, etc. If you are wanting to take the settings from one SDS 200 and send them to the other SDS 200 so both are mirrored exactly, then yes, read from the first SDS 200 then write to the other SDS 200 and the display and settings will mirror both radios.

If, however, you want differences between the two SDS 200 - say one to have a green System text and the other to have a red System text - then you would need to create two different profiles as @tvengr mentioned above; otherwise both SDS 200s would have either green or red text for the System field.
