I liked the Realistic brand name better than Radio Shack. Just seemed cooler. Realistic Patrolman with the crystals and the yellow blinking lights scanning. You couldn't beat it. :D

Realistic was GRE's original name, before Radio Shack contracted with them to make scanners for them. They also made Multiband recievers, basic radios, and other goodies.

Uhhh... no.

Realistic was the name Radio Shack put on their scanners before changing it to Radio Shack.

I have several PRO-2026s. Some say Realistic. Some say Radio Shack.

BTW, I have a PRO-77A (looks identical, but is VHF only). Great radio, but it eats bulbs. I'm going to have to replace them with LEDs some day. It's excellent on Low Band.

The SBE below it is an interesting one, too. Unfortunately, the audio amp recently went out on it. I bet there are several of those around, too (Hence the '46.38 button' being pushed in on the PRO-77). I use these older ones to mostly monitor single channels, but can add others when necessary.
