I have a Realistic Pro 2045. It is one of a few Radio Shack scanners I have at my post.
There is an issue which irritates me though, and even after exhaustive google searches, have yet to find a solution. The 2045 appears to always have open squelch. All channels, except when carring a transmission sounds as though the squelch is open. Playing with the squelch dosen't seem to improve things. This prevents me from scanning the banks of channels, as well as decoding a weak control channel (everytime the data cuts out it is replaced by squelch static.)
I had taken the unit in for repair, but once I got it to the repair shop, it didn't do it there. It's only in my home. My other scanners are not affected similarly.
Can anyone offer some trouble shooting advice, or perhaps some solutions to reduce or eliminate this?
