No sir. Rebanding involved changing the frequencies designated to actual channel numbers in the Motorola logic. You and I know them as frequencies, but to a Motorola radio, they only know channel numbers. So prior to rebanding, 860.9875 might have been channel 128 (I'm just guessing here to use it as an example). Post-rebanding might mean that channel 128 is now a totally different frequency. So when the radio is listening to the control channel and receives a command that a talk group call request is being put on channel XXX, that will be a totally different frequency than what your old radio knows it to be. Hopefully I'm getting the point across.
The other fact is that I don't think there is any Type I systems still in use for public safety (but I could be wrong). I believe everyone as moved to at least a Type II or P25 type trunk system. A Type I radio will not work due to the mix of standard and splinter frequencies that the system will use.
The old Privacy Plus Type I radios are now only good for conventional, if they had that capability.
