I just saw the presentation on radio rebanding, new zones and many new TGs for fire and EMS.

Sussex will have new fire ops TGs, Seaford and Rehoboth with both be adding an EMS response/ops TG. Plus there are extensive changes to the radio templates to make life easier. We'll be reflashibg all of the radios soon and putting the new APX portables in service.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-us; DROID RAZR 4G Build/6.7.2-180_DHD-16_M4-31) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

When should the reband be done?

Still up in the air. The radios will be reprogrammed by vendors and then the Stare DivCom will make the changes.

it's taking a while... they flashed the radios for my fire station a few months ago. For us, they just added the new band and groups and left the current stuff as-is. Not sure about the other counties, but for New Castle, they're also adding more fire police channels... I've had a few fire police guys bugging me to update their scanners, and I keep telling them I can't do it until it goes live.

We haven't been given a firm date, just that after every agency in the state has been reprogrammed.

I have never understood why Seaford and Rehobeth need there own fire dispatch and talk groups. Why doesn't Sussex fire dispatch have complete control dispatching fire and ems for the county?

My home 20 eating pizza.
Keep us posted. I get thorough the area quite often stopping in at a friend's place in New Castle County on my way to/from the beaches. Once the changes go through I'll need to update everything.

And good luck to everyone down there during the Nor'eastercane!! Living in a part of Pa that looks like it’ll take a pretty good hit as well I’m off to pick up the important things. Beer, TP, beer, bread, beer, milk, beer, eggs, beer, and maybe some water, candles, and making sure all my batteries are fully charged at some point.

Then again if it gets too bad I’ll be living out of the fire house for a few days anyway helping to evacuate the town for the 2nd time in 13 months (lesson learned from last year, take the spare phone charger because nobody ever remembers one). Blargh!!!

All the portables went in for "first touch" reprogramming this week. Mobile radios next.
