Hey there, now that rebanding is kinda a big thing here (at least it is for me, i monitor the Milwaukee County TRS when i`m down that way), i was wondering, has the County rebanded yet, or are they still in the "let`s talk about it over coffe" :) stage? Thanx! N9NRA

Not done yet, but the logistics of it are being planned from what I have heard. last I heard was in the coming few months.

Okay, the other question i had concerned the reprogramming of my `396T post-rebanding (might be the wrong place for this, i hope not), i run that system (MKE TRS) in C-channel only mode, and what i`m wondering now is how do i reprogram that system once rebanding is complete? Can i just reenter the control channels without messing with my TGID`s, or do i gotta reset everything i`ve programmed? If i just have to edit the control channels, it would be most effiecient, and a lot less of a pain too. Thanx! 73. N9NRA

unfortunately Uniden hasn't released any firmware upgrades yet that will allow the radio to scan the rebanded trunked systems correctly

Intresting that ya mention that, as i was given to understand that the ver. 3.00.00 update was supposed to allow for rebanding, what i get now is that was incorrect? Intresting news here. In that case i would hope Uniden releases a update to fix this, we`ll see on this one i guess. N9NRA

They'll issue the update when enough systems come online to test. It's not a big deal.

The bad thing for some of us is,once you do the update your scanner will only be able to track rebanded systems.
So lets say Mike does the update to hear the rebanded Sheboygan Co TRS,which some rumors say will be rebanded in November of this year,he won't be able to monitor the Milwaukee Co TRS on that scanner anymore until Milwaukee Co rebands.

I've not heard that mentioned from either Uniden or GRE programmers... Did I miss something?

I might be misunderstanding, but ... I just updated my 246T to allow for rebanding, although I made no changes in system frequencies (on Milwaukee County TRS). Here's the announcement from earlier today:
http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126290
After the update, my 246T tracks exactly the same transmissions as my non-updated 996T. I'm not having any problems -- everything seems the same as before. Or are you saying that once I actually implement a rebanded system, then I'll have trouble with the others?

Cool! months ago I read somewhere that once you update a scanner for rebanded systems you will not be able to program in a 866 - 868 system anymore.

Maybe this was one of the reasons uniden delayed putting out the updates, who knows maybe they heard a lot of complaints about how the original planned update would really suck for some people.

All of the info about not being able to program in 866-868 after the update was wrong from the beginning, and it's wrong now.

Well I only posted what I read months ago somewhere.
Too bad you couldn't correct me with proof of what you knew about this back in Octobober when you first replied,if you are so sure what I read somewhere was wrong .
Or even now, share some of the info about the updates please

Since the post you read months ago somewhere was not from Uniden, you didn't need to trust it.

I thought that since you've been around for a bit, you were aware of the connection some posters in particular have with test programs for the scanner makers.

In any case - if you read the firmware update information, it tells you to add a custom 800MHz system if you want the rebanded stuff. There's no change to old-school systems.

I mainly just read Wisconsin stuff on RR,and didn't know anyone here was testing programs.
Surprised nobody else here said I was full it :)
Somebody here in this forum that knows a lot about scanners and reads a lot of stuff just told me last week that Uniden updates won't be out until Spring of next year,So at least I ain't the only one thats hearing a lot different stories.

Thanks for the info

I wouldn't have posted if I didn't know. I might have said "this is what I think" if I was fairly certain, but I didn't use that phrase either ;)

I question how much that person knows about scanners because the Uniden updates were officially released yesterday. That's what the post by radio50 is referring to.
