I am basically wondering what the status is on the rebanding process of different 800 MHz systems in NJ such as NJSP and some of the county/city TRS's. I had heard in previous threads that NJSP and other systems would have rebanded by fall of 2008 and here it is in February of 2009 and still no change. Has there been a delay like that of the digital TV transition?

Digital TV has NOTHING to do with rebanding.
The OP said, "a delay like that of the digital TV transition," not, "a delay beacause of the digital TV transition." You inferred something that wasn't written.

To answer the original question, yes, the process has been delayed. Frankly I'm not sure what the current schedule is but you might try poking around the 800 MHz Reconfiguration Transition Administrator web site. I did briefly and didn't see the calendar that they used to have featured somewhat prominently.

It appears that many conventional systems and EDACS systems (at least in the NPSPAC band) have been rebanded. Motorola systems are a different story; they seem to be a little more complex to reband.

Cherry Hill and Camden City Edacs systems rebanded some time ago. Old news now. They're the only systems I listem too that have been effected so far. Waiting to see what NJSP has planned for thier system.

Good points. Berkeley PD rebanded to 2 new conventional frequencies, but who cares now since they are P25 encrypted 100% of the time. I also am waiting for the NJSP troop C to change, since they are the only 800 MHz system I listen to here in Toms River.

In the land of make believe
Digital TV delay was done because of the screwup by the government in issuing cards that were supposed to be worth $40 to buy a converter that are expired and underfunded.

How can that relate in anyway to the slow speed of rebanding?

It has nothing to do with the economic state of the country. The process itself is flawed, the design is flawed and Nexthell, Sprint is in bad shape and may not be around much longer. I think it would have been cheaper, smarter and easier to give their customers all new handsets and abandon the 800 mhz channels they held but hey that's me and I am not a politician and not afraid to speak the truth.
