Okay, I know these questions have been asked before-however I can't figure out why an analog system programed into a scanner needs a firmware update and not a digital one?? Here in Colorado I just reprogrammed the scanner with the new frequencies. No firmware needed.
Now an analog system as I see it is where you have analog talk groups (Or channels?) and a digital CC the radio monitors. So, what;'s the difference between that and a full digital system with digital voice? I understand the FCC channel assignments, but as far as I was aware there wasn't a problem on how scanner decoded the CC data.
What's the difference in analog?? http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Rebanding The only thing I can think of is how the channel assignments are given out in the CC for analog vs digital. I guess a digital system doesn't have FCC channel assignments? The CC uses something different? IDK. I always thought the CC had channel assignments.
When you think you understand something...you don't.. Gessh, Between Asto and Asto-25, VSLEP IMBE, etc. I have a headache.
