I finally received my Bearcat BCT15X and am ready to get going. To say that I'm confused is an understatement!

Here is what I am trying to get accomplished:

1. I live near North Bend so I'm wanting to program a "King County" system for Police/Sheriff. I will not be programming any fire, rescue, DOT, etc.

2. I have reviewed the frequency page for Seattle/King County Public Safety and am unclear as to which "site" I should use that will work for the North Bend area. Once I select a site, do I simply input all the frequencies for that site?

3. Within my "King County" system, I want to program a site for Police/Sheriff's Office. Being as the frequency page for King County, Seattle Public Safety states it is a Motorola Smartzone, I have selected this as my option.

4. Under my "site", I have started to input the frequencies for the Kangley site as I'm guessing this is the closest...or am I completely wrong?

5. After entering in my frequencies for the Kangley site, I entered groups for Snoqualmie PD, Issaquah PD, and King County SO so far...I hear nothing.

Any help would be awesome, you can even call me on my cell and talk me through it at this point as I'm extremely frustrated in not knowing how this works.

Help,
Dan

Hi Dan - the first thing you can do is to forget the name 'Bearcat' - that name hasn't been used in a LONG time. You're dating yourself <chuckle>

Anyway let's start at the beginning - this wiki article will give you just about everything you need to know about using a Uniden DMA scanner. It has links to articles on trunking, our glossary and a great deal more. Note that anything in blue is a link of some kind.

Your real first step is to download the Easier to Read manual for the 15X, as well as reading the excellent explanation on trunking (in a PDF article) by our own UPMan. Between the two, that should get you going. Both links (to the Easier to Read website, and the trunking article), along with lots more, are here...

Program your DMA Scanner - The RadioReference Wiki
