receiving Federal frequencies

just curious how one receives federal frequencies?

I have downloaded the federal list for my area from the radio reference database to my scanner, but all i get is static...I have the Radioshack pro 164 multi trunking prs 300...is there something in the settings I'm doing wrong???? Any help would be appreciated!

Probably most of what you're receiving is encrypted, so forget about receiving it.

As to the NAY sayers, it takes time and patience.
Some will probably be ENC others may come-n-go. YMMV, but the CLR comms are out there. :wink:

spend sometime SEARCHing the bands vs using the national channels
Channels vary by Major City to Major City.

When you Say static, is this in Digital mode or Analog mode?
For analog add the PL tone and it will ignore them until the go CLR
