Just got a new BCD996P2 and used FreeScan to program
my first trunk group. I used EZ-Grab in FreeScan to copy
talk groups that I had highlighted on this page:

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=254

However, I only copied the airport, sheriff, EMS and
public works talkgroups and imported them into
FreeScan and uploaded them to the 996P2. But
for some reason I'm also receiving radio traffic from
talkgroups that I didn't import and upload such as
Bayside, Franklin, Glenale, Wauwatosa, etc.

I also imported the "System Frequencies" listed on
the above page into the Site's "Truck Frequencies"
and locked out all of them except the four listed in red.

What's causing the non-programmed talkgroups
to show up and how can I stop them? I can't lock
them out because they're not listed in any talkgroup
on the 996P2.

Just a guest, but when scanning, does the screen say 'ID Search'? If so press the 'scan' button (while searching) and the screen will say ID Scan. This should limit scanning your programmed groups.

Also, you should not lock out the site frequencies. Won't affect what you are seeing (likely ID Search), but can cause other issues.

Open up your FreeScan program and click on the system that you programmed. About halfway down is a box titled "ID mode". Make sure "ID scan" is selected and upload it to your scanner. Then save the settings when you close FreeScan. This will allow you to only hear what you have programmed. "ID search" will allow your scanner to receive all of the talkgroups that are broadcast on the system you entered.
As others have mentioned you can toggle between the two using the scanner keypad, but if you do any programming with FreeScan in the future saving it in "ID scan" mode will always allow you to listen to only what you have programmed.

I went into FreeScan and changed it to ID Scan
and removed the lockouts from the systems
frequencies, and bookmarked the better manual.

My ol' Realistic Pro-2020 finally died on me a
onth back and when I bought the 996P2 it was
quite a culture shock.

Thanks for everyone for the help!
