Receiving Signal mid-transmission with PL

This is not the regular what is PL/DPL thread

As far as I understand, a PL/DPL code is transmitted at the beginning of a radio transmission, and only at the beginning, not during or the end.

If a transmission is already in progress, will the scanner stop and receive this or will it skip over it because it did not hear the opening transmission when the PL code is transmitted?

The PL/DPL is always transmitted throughout the entire transmission. Therefore your scanner should stop on it in mid transmission.

If you listen closely with headphones you may hear a low hum if it is PL or a quiet warbling if it is DPL.
