Had a sold S7 for Staten Island NYPD radio on my Icom R8500 with homemade Yagi.
Recently, the reception is so poor, I can barely hear them through the static. Nothing
has changed with cable or antenna - no breaks in cable or anything like that.
The noise floor is almost the same as my usual base signal.
My question is: recently the humidity level has risen at my location in NJ. I always thought
humidity increases or improves UHF reception but not sure.
I did review the tropopheric prediction site and there's a large, strong area over the Atlantic to the east of us - can this cause reception problems?
Any other ideas or anyone else having these issues?
Thanks
Brian
