hey guys, i got a quick question here.

I have a friend who's currently down in the states on a trip, and i recently decided i want to pick myself up a digital scanner. So my question is, can i get a better one down in the states as opposed to where i am (Western Canada).

And if so, what would you guys pick?

I Was looking at a PRO-96 for 379$ and they had a PRO-106 for 499$

i want something that will receive digital rcmp etc etc. Have all the needed features, and things like that. Any questions ask away!

Thanks for the help guys!

Justin we have a Western Canada forum, and there's the very well known ScanBC wiki website and forum. Both places would be the best to go to for recommendations like this. In cases like these, local information is always best.

The ScanBC forum page is: http://www.scanbc.com/forum/

Interestingly their wiki has no links to all the scanner related information we have on our wiki, and it's policy that interwiki links are to be encouraged. Wonder why they don't have anything there?

Not a problem. You will be able to use the US scanner to listen to the frozen North:)) EH! I would go with the 106. It blows the 96 out of the water on receive, bells and whistles, size, and memory. My wife has accused me of having an affair with mine since buying it almost two weeks ago. Win500 is what I use to program and control the scanner.

I have to agree... If you are looking between the two with no real concern about the extra $$$ then go with the 106. I have the 96 and the 106's twin, the GRE PSR-500, and by far the 500 is better. Though I still love the 96. It is like an old friend to me. Earlier this year I left my 500 at the house on a day where we had a tornado in the area. Had the 96 with me and it worked like a charm (I guess I made myself realize the 96 still had it in her).
