Ahh OK... I should have realized. Good to have it near a window, but are those blinds metal? You may want to open them. Metal objects (including the radiator on the baseboard) near antenna elements can affect the performance, usually negatively. It is a very portable antenna though and trying different locations is usually possible.
Yes I know that metal will screw the signal up I just put it there to take a pic lol but thanks and another question right now I’m using new regular rg 6 cable is there any benefit of using quad sheild rg 6?i know it’s good if your running it along other cables .thanks
Quad shield may help with proximity to other cables (as you noted) but otherwise not something to worry about unless quad shield is lower loss than standard RG6... and I can't recall if it is, but could easily be looked up.
The blinds, if of metal and they often are, will filter the signals to only pass horisontal ones and your antenna are vertical, as well as the signals you're trying to monitor. Could be a 10dB loss. Pull them up while monitoring.
Thanks everyone for the help and yes I know about the blinds lol I just put the antenna there to take a pic and another question if I paint the antenna with something like flex seal paint will that decrease my signal?i know not to paint where the bauhn connects.thanks

Hi was looking at getting a small outdoor antenna for my BC75XLT i live in a apartment building with a balcony but can’t but to intrusive and expensive lol I should mention I do have Watson W-881 Super Ganier should I just stick with using that? Thanks
newfie, A outdoor antenna for that double conversion scanner would be a DISASTER in the making! It's funny, I just had my deputy fire chief here from Eastchester Fire Department and I had to re-program his entire BC-75XLT. I had him go to Home Depot and buy (4) AA Energizers Rechargeable batteries. Your scanner has no PL-meaning private line, my newer version, the BC-125AT does (CTCSS/DCS)and also has triple conversion circuity and will pick up MUCH better. You could also buy a Diamond RH-77CA antenna with the BNC connector. No need for a outdoor antenna on a handheld. It will OVERLOAD the front end on your old pocket scanner.
