I have a WS1065 that I've never been happy with. Usually one half of the PD conversation comes across as garbled. Sometimes it's dispatch, but usually it's the officer. At first I thought it was a simulcast thing, but after much experimenting and talking to people, it's likely partial encryption. And the WS1065 doesn't filter out encryption, so I either can't monitor the PD talkgroup at all, or I put up with the annoying digital noise. Having said all that, I'm ready to replace this scanner with something that won't receive the encrypted traffic at all. Looking for suggestions.
Would like something that filters encryption.
I don't think I need Simulcast capabilities.
Mainly want to monitor P25 Phase 1 system (Montana Public Safety Communications System Trunking System, Statewide, Montana - Scanner Frequencies)
I will mostly be using it at home, so I like the idea of a portable that I can plug in while at home, but take with me in the car on occasion.
