For that range most any 2-meter Yagi would work. Do a google search for "direct connect beam" or Yagi and that should get you started. Some wire and PVC and you'll be in business.

Yagi's have directional characteristics. Are you looking to improve reception in one direction only, or from all directions?

A Yagi at VHF will have 10MHz bandwidth at best and probably less. To cover the entire 144-174MHz band you might look at a VHF log periodic or a 4-bay dipole array, which will have 9dBD gain over a 120degree or so area.
