I was really into scanning back when everything was analog. I am getting back into it. I want to monitor this system. It is not encrypted. What is a good handheld (and maybe mobile) scanner that will scan this system? It MUST be computer programmable (I think they are all nowadays).

System Frequency: 800MHz
System Type: Motorola Type II SmartZone
System Voice: Analog and APCO-25 Common Air Interface

Whats your budget?
Uniden BCD436HP has been a great scanner for me.
Are you planning on monitoring Phase 1 and 2 in the future?
If not the BCD396T is a great scanner.

I think the Uniden BCD325P2, BCD436HP, or SDS100 would be great hand held options. For a base mobile you could look at the BCD996P2 or the BCD536HP. Whistler also has the TRX1 and TRX2 for handheld and base options.
