Recorder for Scanner

I've been searching for an external recorder with voice activation to attach to a scanner. Something rudimentary. There's so many available that it's hard to pick one. Just wondering what others use. Tnx es 73's.

Unless you want to spring for an Olympus, the rest of them are pretty similar. Just find one with a 3.5mm jack and run from the headphones to the recorder. Use the local weather radio to make a few test recordings to check the volume level to prevent distortion.

Disadvantage to a totally external recorder is no way to alpha tag, log, filter & sort what you're hearing if recording more than one channel. But I'm guessing that's irrelevant for the OP...

Just looking to search any activity in the 30-50 MHz band, analog only.

At least you don't have to worry about flipping over the cassette and making sure the suction cup transducer stays on these days...

I would suggest to instead invest in a serial and audio cable and use the free Scan125 program to log audio as well as the information of the frequency found.

I bought one of these when Radio Shack was imploding......works fairly well for basic audio recording, but has a lot of SD card slots. Model # 1400214.

This works pretty good for me, except sometimes my fat fingers can't get the battery cover open...

ETA: I recommend rechargeable triple A's, sometimes it eats batteries. You know, I've never looked to see if it will run off the USB connection, Hmmm
