Red Deer Motorola Type II???

Just out of curiosity, any one know if the Motorola Type II System mentioned for Red Deer at http://www.bearcat1.com/fleetab.htm (bottom of page) is still up and running or is this info outdated? (as I notice most of the other info is not up to snuff).

I took a BC245 with me to Red Deer in 2001 for a fire course I was on. The system was in use then, but I have lost all the talkgroup information. It strikes me that Fire was in the 8000s, including their voice alerts, which covered every station for every callout (the explanation given to me was 'we want our crews to know where the other crews are all the time').

I think EMS and city buses are on that system as well. Red Deer City RCMP should be on PACS still, on 155.52.

Odd... 866.55 is not shown in the TAFL any more. That could just mean that it's now considered a 'protected' system, though.

And I agree with you on what you find with the 'fleetcall' site/book. The information is so outdated and incorrect it should just be pulled. It's from the BC235 days! Just look at the Calgary system info - they list '342' as a talkgroup. Clearly someone submitted '343', which is Zone 2 C14 (336) plus multiselect (7). Someone else said "Hey, you can't have odd numbers in talkgroups" and just turned it into 342.

I am going to go thru my old backup CDs and see if I can find my Red Deer data. I'll post in here if I find it!

Thanks for the reply Jay, yeah its been a while since I passed through Red Deer too, at the time I only had my Pro-2037 along and just entered the freqs I had for the 800Mhz system just to see what traffic was on there, was a rather brief monitoring session though as I was passing through as I said, so I didn't have much of a chance to wait around to hear much, but the system was there as I heard the control channel. Now I was just curious as to why no more info has ever been posted about ID's and such. Hopefully soon I'll get an excuse to pass through there again and get some useful info for the database as now of course I'm much better equipped to do so with my BC785D.

I couldn't find any reference to the files. I'll keep looking, but I don't expect much success.

Maybe the next time the roads are nice, I have days off, and I have time for a drive (all three together are a rare coincidence!), I'll head up that way with my tapped 245 and T4Win (or probably, by that time, Unitrunker). See what comes of it.

Found my old data! Added Red Deer to the database. It's ancient though, so it needs updating in a major way.

I'm working on a project rig at this time which will ultimately end up as a vehicle-mounted computer for a number of purposes. MP3s, T4Win/ID Tracker/Unitrunker, GPS tracking, and Netstumbling are all possibilities on the list. Once I have things functioning to my liking, expect to see me pick up on updating the southern AB trunks again.

And I tapped my second BC245 tonight. So I am back running with T4Win again! (The older 245 has packed it in power-wise, it seems.)
