I figured a dedicated thread to the frequencies used on base would be better than tying up the current thread for atmospheric ducting activity.

I'll be spending quite a bit of time either on or very near (like parked just outside their fence) running close-call and searching the VHF and UHF government bands to try to determine the majority of the frequencies used on base are, and possibly their usage.

In the last 4 years or so it seems that most of the frequencies which were in use have pretty much changed with the exception of a couple, like crash/fire. So the task now is to rediscover all of their new operating frequencies, mode and try to identify who the users are.

If anyone happens to have information on KAFB frequencies please share them here in this thread. If you think that a frequency you've heard could possibly be originating from KAFB or is military in use post it.

KAFB has always mostly operated VHF-Hi. Anywhere from 138 to 144 MHz and 148 to 152 MHz. and then 161 to 175 MHz. It use to be 12.5 KHz offsets on FM (F3E) but now mostly seems to be NFM or P25.

Dysartria absolutely. Best thing would be to just start scanning those ranges listed above and log activity and post it here. There's already a list of frequencies in the database but its a far cry from what it use to be like before someone got ahold of it and deleted a bunch of stuff. What type of scanner are you using? A lot of their stuff is P25 now so you'd need a digital capable scanner, but there's still some plain ole fm too.

KE5TLF I thought it would be better to just do it this way heh. started to hijack your thread.

...and soon after I make the above post...LOL

173.4125 293 NAC - from my list of federal unknowns, Traffic asking about where the athletes are eating and concerns about one of them having cramps. I've copied other EMS type traffic on this freq. in the past as noted in the federal monitoring thread, so I'm thinking this one is almost certainly KAFB medical related now.

140.2750 210.7 PL - Traffic about all athletes being registered already, and continuing athlete related traffic.

139.2375 210.7 PL - Very casual traffic related to the movement of elements involved in the opening cermonies that are scheduled to begin in about 20 minutes.

Slight (apparently) medical emergency involving one of the althletes initally heard called out on above freq. Related traffic heard shortly after the initial call out on 173.4125 saying patient seemed ok and wanted to get back on "the train".

About 9:15 someone announced to return your radios to the NOC Center. (139.2375 net)

139.0125 210.7 PL - traffic related to the "aquatics" events it seems, at the time of this post anyway.

Thanks for dropping by with that feedback. :)

141.3375 - is all but nailed down and I will be updating the DB with that info soon.

A small point of clarification though. 148.150 is primarily in use by Alabama CAP, this is the Daphne repeater. CAP units from the AL wing are flying frequent oil spill survey missions all along the coast and this repeater is now quite active with traffic related to that. I see them flying over and around Chevron numerous times a day too. :)

Still much to be discovered and done here...
Even moreso with the air show fast approaching.

Now to my reason for digging this up. I just heard radio maintenance identify the 173.5875, what we've been calling FD 1, as "Crash 10" if i heard correctly. Attached .zip file contains a recording of the transmission. Do I hear correctly?

Crash 10 is one of the base's FD pumpers. What you heard was Radio Maintenance doing a radio check on Crash 10's radio on the FD frequency.

Ah so...I had actually just now figured that out and came back to point that out to myself. hehe. :) I have since heard several other units being checked.

Anyway, my main intent was to restart some action on the topic hopefully. All the main stuff in the DB is still good and will be of the most interest come airshow weekend. The stuff previously posted in the thread all still seems to be good too.

149.250 210.7 PL - Going to call this one Fuel Trucks Net I guess, for the time being. After the Blues landed today there was traffic passed about which trucks were going to refuel which planes.
