I have an HX1500 that's got to be around 20 years old. It's been used daily to listen to my local police and fire, mainly at home in the drop-in charger. I like the HX1500 because it's so ruggedly built, even though it's a bit large.

This past weekend, the volume control stopped working. There's very faint sound coming from the speaker (built-in and external), but no way to adjust it. Prior to dying, I would get static and "dead spots' while adjusting the volume. Rotation of the knob feels correct, so something has obvioulsy gone wrong inside.

My question is whether or not it's worth fixing, and if so, how/where?

If it was working good and you like it, find a radio shop in your area and get an estimate on fixing it- sometimes older parts are hard to find.

Some of the older radios are hard to beat!
