:( Well,

I went by an old CB friends of mine and we were talking about the Old Days, back in 1962 to 1967. A lot had changed since then. He asked me if I still fiddled with them and I told him, yes, still. then he surprised me by asking me if I wanted some MORE.:D Well, DUHH! So we went back to his crowded shop and he loaded 6 boxes of all sorts of radio's, mostly the old, E.F. Johnson Viking Messenger One's, the "Bush" model, not the "Obama" one, LOL!. There was even an old, Hy-gain Black Box, a double-sideband, reduced-carrier unit that really whups the Llama's azz(WINAMP).

Anyway in the boxes, I found an old Regency MONITORRADIO1. I've GOOGLED until my fingers are sore. Does ANYONE know the particulars on this scanner. I think it's a VHF Fire Dept scanner. The ONLY markings on the back of the set are:225-A00060, which I can only think the scanner was made in 1960. It has an Motorola jack in back for an antenna, the built-in is broken off. There is a terminal strip in back, and a Chinch-Jones 4-pole plug in back, probably for power. The faceplate has a few scratches and only On/Off and Squelch knobs.

ANY information would be of great assistance. I may be contacted via e-mail at: Area_5_Wx_Net(@t)gmail(dot)com

THANKS ahead of time.

Respectfully submitted,

Don -

If there is not a row of on-off push buttons under individual red lights below the knobs, it sounds like a TMR-1 single channel monitor receiver. The units came in single, 4- and 8- channels versions, and in VHF-Low, VHF-Hi, and UHF (450-470) models. [VHF-Hi would be a TMR-1H.]

They used crystals that were (for VHF-Hi) F-10.7 MHz / 3.

The 4-pin Cinch-Jones connector allowed either 110 VAC or 12 VDC operation, depending on how it was wired.

Hope this helps...

"Thanks!"

Hi, Other Don, LOL!

No, there are no "buttons" on the front, so it must be the single channel receiver. I can always use that as A single channel monitor for emergency
radio stuff. I couldn't find a picture of it on RIGPIX so I was kinda confused.
Regency, Uniden, or Bearcat don't even list it. :-( I know it's OLD, but so
am I and were still good yet, LOL!

I got a Uniden Bearcat 560XLT in the deal as well, but it's missing an audio
IC of some kind. I'll need a schematic to fix it, LOL!

"Thanks for you kind and prompt help". Maybe we'll get a chance to have
a QSO on HF one day.

Eureka! I found it! (TMR-1)

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Well, I was able to locate the model through Don,K6CDO's last e-mail. It IS a model TMR-1. I'll need to locate a schematic diagram to find out the wiring on the Chinch-Jones plug and I don't see a crystal or socket. I can only hope it's a VHF Hi-band receiver and will cover 2 meters,.

I love old gear, especially the tube-type. With my health and compromised vision (cataracts not "ripe" yet), I have some trouble seeing into a transistor, IC, and especially those surface-mount circuit boards. :(. But, my daily walk with GOD, makes me thankful for what I have and what I don't have as well. :D

Thank ALL of you for your generous help. I hope some day we can have an on-the-air QSO. I love to rag-chew. May GOD continue to bless you, forever with good health, abundant wealth and exceeding joy.

Respectfully,
73,

Wow, very interesting thread, wish that stuff were still around. Brings back memories!!! Regency made some really nice and extremely durable equipment, and let's not forget their two way line. I would love to acquire one of their high band radios for our station...
