Just received a submission with several talk groups for RTD on DTRS. See the database entry for details!

A few questions -

1)I was logging the metro area sites to see where I could best hear RTD. On several of them 10094 was locked on one of the voice channels with (EMER) next to it. There was no channel activity or affiliations on it and I could only see this on the System Activity tab in Pro96Com. What does this mean?
2)Are the Denver Metro area security channels only for Light Rail or also for buses?

That TG 10094 has been showing up on my wildcard, I see that in the DB that it is Boulder Cnty RTD, but it been hanging on that TG like someone is keying the mike (my radio wont scan), so i was at the point of just locking out that TG. Not sure what is going on with TG 10094.

I see these are already in the DB but I wanted to add my notes:

10096 RTD Security "Channel 1"
10097 RTD Security "TAC 1"
10100 RTD Security "TAC 3"

The names in quotation marks are what I've heard the channel being called over the air. I've heard traffic on 10098, but haven't heard it named yet. I would guess that 10098 is TAC 2, though. Also of interest: I've noted that the old HT1250's that RTD personnel usually carry are being gradually replaced with APX7000 radios. My guess is that these are dual band for UHF and 800 so that the legacy UHF frequencies can still be used if needed.

I've been using the Pro96Com program(about 24 hrs) and that same TG 10094 is still hanging and just about 10mins ago there was talk on it too. Just about 24 hours on the Pro96com program and on that TG over 7200 hits on it. I would think someone would fix it.

I'm seeing that too - off of Lookout - just hanging.

It sounds like the RTD Security channels are for all security operations. I've heard calls for both bus and light rail, but the majority of traffic is for light rail. From what I've gathered Robert units are Light Rail, Mary are mobile patrol, Sam are supervisors, and Paul are police officers detailed to work with Transit Security. Stationary posts are identified by name i.e. "Union Station", "Civic Center", ect. and off-duty officers appear to use 600 series numbers. Also, during roll calls there is a post that identifies as "Boulder" which seems to indicate that these talkgroups are used outside of the Denver area and across the entire district.

Its hard to find a tower that consistently carries their talkgroups, but I've had success on Chevron (164), Arapahoe Admin (101), and of course Auraria (170) and State Capitol (171). Hope this helps.

I've been monitoring sites 001-070 and 001-071 for the past 24 hr with unitrunker and racked up (all of these show up with no label, so not in the db) 260 hits on 10076, 72 hits on 10078, 32 hits on 10089, 37 hits on 2992, 15 hits on 10051, and 90 on 65536 (not sure what that is)... I'm not listening to audio though, so cant help identify atm.

Also noticing alot of "PvtData" types showing up in the channel grant trace for TG 10095...

DCSO TGs were the only other ones I noticed alot of that on, and I still haven't heard an actual explanation of what those are (other than hypothesis)

I'm no expert, but could "PvtData" be some sort of digital data status messaging?

Edited to say: this is pure speculation on my part.

(I am speculating too.) I know that the larger buses that run between Boulder and Denver have telemetry installed. This is to update the real-time displays that are at major bus stops and park 'n rides when the bus is estimated to arrive. I am assuming this is moving/moved to DTRS too.

Thought I would pass this on: saw 2 RTD security officers on light rail this am, each were carrying Motorola APX-6000 portables.

Yep, they've been carrying those for at least a month now. The LRV operators are also carrying them now, too.

Onboard mobile radios in the LRV's are still CDM1250's, though.
