Registration of Radios?

I understand that radios have to register to a site in order to be able to communicate on that site. Just curious as to why I am seeing so many being registered at one time but hearing very little talking going on? I am monitoring the NC/SC Fleettalk system. Thanks

The system may be requesting those re-registrations. "Are you still there?"

Just because a radio is turned on and affiliated with a site does not mean that anyone is actively talking on it.

Could also be because of a site reset. When a NexEdge site resets the radios all start looking for other sites. When it comes back up you have a mass registration going on. There was also a note in several releases of NexEdge site firmware that said it corrected a situation where the control channel stops transmitting. I've noticed that in the past as well. When it starts again, it has the same effect.
