read this guide for official information:
http://www.800ta.org/PDFs/guide.pdf

June 27th starts the first wave negotiations. After 90 days for negotiations, the physical relocation can take place (as soon as Sept 25, 2005)
The next important date is Feb 1, 2006. That is the start of negotiations for those in 866-869 MHz to relocate. The physical relocations starts after an agreement is reached.

Also, for those who search the FCC database, there are new ID codes for 800 MHZ systems that have rebanded:
Public Safety conventional - GE
Public Safety trunked - YE
Business conventional - GJ
Business trunked - YJ
SMR conventional GM & GL
SMR Trunked - YM & YL

No licensing process. The FCC has given the Transition Authority, TA, the power to assign frequencies. So no region planning groups nor coordination will be involved.

Not so ... coordination will not be necessary but all the new freqs have to be licensed and the old ones surrendered with a FCC channel surrender application. The licensee can do it themselves, they can contract with a FCC certified Frequency Coordinator and get reimbursement, or last, they can request Nextel do it. Regardless, the current licensee is responsible for it.
