What is the difference in range of a wilson 801 vs a wilson 881 super gain antenna?

I think you mean the "Watson" W-801 and W-881 antennas. It seems that other people have gotten the name wrong also.
I couldn't see any specification for actual gain so the only difference I see is 7.5 inches and $20, depending on where you buy it.
While the reviews are good, they don't contain any definitive information. All they usually say is "it's better than the stock antenna". But that may be enough incentive to buy one.
The extra length may be an advantage, but don't expect anything magical. Possibly it is a co-linear and the extra length accounts for that. In the end, an external antenna at a descent height will give you better range and better sensitivity.
