I have noticed since the arctic blast pretty much is blanketing much of the US and alot of snow and freezing rain has hit some areas I wonder if the degree of static electricity is built up with colder air being dryer where there is no to little moisture. I noticed some very subtle smooth 'arcs' that have sprang up on the radio's noise floor for a few days now. Not a signal killer. I was listening in on a 80m frequency and a ham described the exact same thing on his equipment whom was in the same region as I, the ITU 5 region.

Could this harsh arctic blast be contributing to it?
