On a drive-by of Manhatten on the way to Vermont this past weekend, I let a VX-6 scan the 450-451 and 455-456 MHz frequencies. If I can read my scribbles:

450.0875 - WCBS-880 - Traffic reports from the helicoptor.
450.3875 - WNBC-4 - Heard with the Today Show audio (not continuous).
450.8125 - Unknown - Traffic reports.

I know these frequencies are little-used compared to 10 or 20 years ago, but some of the conversations still can be fun. Does anyone have additions to this short list, and can anyone identify the traffic reports on .8125? Thanks.

450.8125 is Metro Traffic, they are ry busy during the commuter hours. 455.700 is Field Sky Patrol and they handle traffic for NY stat e and NJ as well as the NYC area! Those are the ones I listen to on a regular basis!

Jason, I apologize for the delay; I'm really backed up on my reading. Thank you very much for the great feedback on the media frequencies. I'll add them to my inventory and will look at your Web site in the near future.

If it wasn't continuous it could have been intermod. (In mid-town Manhattan? What frequency can you find that doesn't have some intermod on it?)

Not continuous

I was listening on a VX-6 with a decent antenna on it. I could have interpreted "not continuous" as a loss of signal in underpasses and ramps. Dunno. but thanks for the input.
